About Hagar
The Hagar Association was founded in 2006 by Jewish and Arab parents, teachers, community organizers and other concerned residents from Beer Sheva in order to promote cooperation, mutual trust and understanding in the Israeli Negev. To realize its vision of a better future, the Association decided to create a Jewish-Arab pre-kindergarten-12 school as well as a community outreach program.

קבוצת הורים מבאר-שבע, אקדמאים ופעילים קהילתיים בעיר ובסביבתה, יסדה את עמותת "הגר" לפני יותר משנתיים כמענה למציאות החיים בנגב שבה חיים אלה לצד אלה שש מאות אלף תושבים, רבע מהם אזרחים ערבים. בנגב אין כיום מסגרת חינוכית או חברתית שבה ילדים יהודים וערבים פועלים במשותף. מייסדי "הגר" מאמינים כי יצירת מסגרת חינוכית דו-לשונית משותפת לשתי הקהילות תוך הכרת המורשת, הדת והמנהגים של ה"אחר" תתרום לשינוי מציאות זו.

قامت مجموعة من الأهلي من بئر السبع، من الأكاديميين والتاشطين الأهليين في المدينة وجوارها، بتأسيس جمعية "هاجر" قبل أكثر من سنتين، لتكون ردًا على واقع الحياة المُعاش في النقب، الذي يحيا فيه، جنبًا إلى جنب، 600 ألف نسمة، ربعهم من المواطنين العرب. ويفتقر النقب اليوم لإطار تربويّ أو اجتماعيّ يعمل في ضمنه الأولاد اليهود والعرب سوية. ويؤمن مؤسّسو "هاجر" بأنّ خلق هذا الإطار التربويّ ثنائي اللغة المشترك للمجتمعين من خلال الاعتراف بالموروث والديانة والعادات الخاصة بـ "الآخر"، سيُسهم في تغيير هذا الواقع.
